Wendy, a freshman on the Cokeville High girls' volleyball team, paced the Panthers to their 54th win in a row and third straight 1A state title, with a .521 kill efficiency and an average of 4.5 kills a game in the state tournament.

Stewart, 24, won the International Bodyboard championships, held off Oahu's Ehukai Beach Park, for the fourth time in six years. Judged on wave-riding technique and creativity, Stewart rode his bodyboard to victory in all three heats.

ADEL, GA.
Marese, a 119-pound Cook High senior, led the Hornets to a 15-0 record and the state wrestling championship, winning his second consecutive state title by defeating Daniel Bailey of North Gwinnett High in the final bout.

BIRDSBORO, PA.
Wendy, a senior guard on the Daniel Boone High girls' basketball team, had 26 points in a 60-33 win over Mount Penn High to become Pennsylvania District 3's alltime leading scorer among girls, with 2,290 points.

NEW YORK CITY
Nnenna, a junior at Hunter College High, ran the fastest indoor half mile for a high school girl this season, clocking a 2:13.5 to finish .4 of a second ahead of previously unbeaten Aaronda Watson of John Dewey High.

VAN BUREN, MAINE
Lebel, 49, a heavy-equipment operator, set a world ice-fishing record by catching an 8-pound, 4-ounce brook trout on Long Lake in Maine. The old mark was 6 pounds, 7 ounces by Bryan Nicol of Menomonie, Wis., in 1983.
