"Mr. O'Konski. I think the gentleman has committed a terrible error, because the World Series is going to be played at the Milwaukee County Stadium. I extend an invitation to all Members of the House to be there when the first game is played. If you have any difficulty in getting tickets, contact me, because the World Series games will be played in Milwaukee County Stadium and not in Brooklyn.

"Mr. Dorn of New York, The gentleman from Wisconsin made the same error last year and invited Members of the House to Milwaukee at that time. He is as wrong now as he was then.

"Mr. O'Konski. But that was at a time when we had this 6 weeks' beer strike in Milwaukee and they had to import a lot of cheap substitutes from other cities.

"Mr. Morano. Mr. Speaker, will the gentleman yield?

"Mr. Dorn of New York. I yield.

"Mr. Morano, I think you are both wrong. The New York Giants will win the pennant.

"The Speaker. The time of the gentleman from New York has expired."

TAPE RECORDING
SIRS:
CONGRATULATIONS ON EXCELLENT STORY OP SARATOGA SALES. HOWEVER, I THINK THAT IN JUSTICE TO PURCHASERS OF THE AGA KHAN'S HORSES IT WOULD BE NICE TO PRINT MY FULL QUOTE FROM A TAPE RECORDING OF THE AUCTION:

"NOBODY IS MORE AWARE OF THE FACT THAT IT HAS BEEN FREELY STATED THAT THE AGA KHAN HORSES DON'T WIN RACES THAN IS HIS SON, PRINCE ALY KHAN. HOWEVER, THE PRINCE WANTS ME TO POINT OUT TO YOU, AND THE MESSAGE COMES FROM HIS FATHER, THAT NEVER BEFORE HAVE ALL HIS COLTS FROM THE IRISH STUD BEEN OFFERED FOR SALE. IN THE PAST WE HAVE SOLD TWO DRAFTS FROM THE IRISH AND FRENCH STUDS; TONIGHT WE SELL THE ENTIRE LOT. NOW AS TO SELLING WINNERS—WHEN EVERYTHING IS PUT ON THE TABLE, THE AGA KHAN SOLD TAJMAH THE 1,000-GUINEAS WINNER, THREE WINNERS OF THE FRENCH OAKS, MARY LEGEND, FAIRY LEGEND, UKRANIA. MAHMOUD WAS OFFERED AND DIDN'T BRING HIS RESERVE IN FRANCE. NOW, LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, I SUBMIT TO YOU, THE IMPORTANCE TO YOU ALL OF THIS GROUP OF HORSES IS THE CONSIDERATION OF WHERE AMERICAN RACING WOULD STAND TODAY HAD IT NOT BEEN FOR THE AGA KHAN'S STUD."

GRAPHIC EVIDENCE
Sirs:
Your capsule biography of "The Speed Merchant," Ellsworth Vines (p. 85, SI, Aug. 23), failed to mention his brief but nonetheless significant career as a freshman basketball player at the University of Southern California (graphic evidence enclosed).
