"If some of these 'sophomoric' alumni would grow up, put the value of their school above the value of victory, consider victory as something other than personal achievement, that would be the first improvement. Take the emphasis off winning. Eliminate national ratings. Put coaches on indefinite tenure and not base their security on winning or losing. At Tech, for instance, we've had three coaches in 50 years."
