Louisiana State vs. Miami
Little Fran Curci's passes may ruffle the Bengals a bit, but Miami lacks the over-all strength to stop Billy Cannon and Co., who will make it 16 straight for LSU.
Georgia Tech vs. Tennessee
A real battle between two of the South's unbeaten teams. Tech has come up with some running depth to go with its fast, alert line and will outscore the Tennessee single wing. GEORGIA TECH.
Army vs. Penn State
Ambushed by Illinois last week, Army will have to shore up its front line to stop Penn State's Richie Lucas. I don't think the Cadets can do it without injured Bob Anderson. PENN STATE.
Syracuse vs. Navy
A devastating offense and an impregnable defense make a happy combination. Syracuse has both and figures to be too strong for Navy. I'll go with SYRACUSE.
Princeton vs. Pennsylvania
I'll be working this regional game on NBC-TV, so I won't pick it. But Penn is on the upgrade and its double wing T could make things uncomfortable for a good Princeton club.
Purdue vs. Wisconsin
A tossup with bruising line play likely to overshadow the attack. However, Dale Hackbart's passing will make the difference and give victory to WISCONSIN.
Northwestern vs. Minnesota
Even without injured Quarterback Dick Thornton, Northwestern should enjoy the afternoon with Minnesota. The Wildcats have too much for the Gophers. NORTHWESTERN.
Ohio State vs. Illinois
The Buckeyes are still smarting from their defeat by USC and looking for a victim. Illinois' new offense, with spreads and split ends, won't fool OHIO STATE.
Texas vs. Oklahoma
The unbeaten and unscored upon Longhorns, with brilliant backs and a rugged line, have their sights set on Oklahoma. The Sooners have bowed once, and it can happen again. TEXAS.
California vs. Notre Dame
Notre Dame's pro-type offense was stifled by Purdue, but it will be adequate against disappointing California and its many defensive weaknesses. NOTRE DAME.
