SI polled 11 pro personnel directors—six from the AFC, five from the NFC—for their midseason All-Pro selections, and the following is the consensus.

OFFENSE: Wide receivers—Andre Rison, Falcons; Jerry Rice, 49ers. Tackles—Jim Lachey, Redskins; Anthony Munoz, Bengals. Guards—Steve Wisniewski, Raiders; Bruce Matthews, Oilers. Center—Kent Hull, Bills. Tight end—Rodney Holman, Bengals. Quarterback—Joe Montana, 49ers. Running backs- Gary Anderson, Bucs; Neal Anderson, Bears.

DEFENSE: Linemen—Jeff Cross, Dolphins; Bruce Smith, Bills: Michael Dean Perry, Browns: Reggie White, Eagles. Linebackers—Charles Haley, 49ers; Pepper Johnson, Giants; Lawrence Taylor, Giants. Cornerbacks—Rod Woodson, Steelers; Albert Lewis, Chiefs. Safeties—Steve Atwater, Broncos; David Fulcher, Bengals.

SPECIALISTS: Kicker—Pete Stoyanovich, Dolphins. Punter—Sean Landeta, Giants. Returner—Dave Meggett, Giants.

COACH: Don Shula, Dolphins.

LET'S QUIT NOW, WHILE WE'RE AHEAD

?If the draft were held today, the Cowboys would have the third, sixth and seventh picks in Round 1. Since the common draft (AFL-NFL) began in '67, no team has had three of the first 10 picks. The third pick came from the Vikes in the Herschel Walker trade and the seventh from the Saints in the Steve Walsh deal. The sixth is their own.

? Houston finished the first half with the AFC's four leading receivers—Ernest Givins (46 catches). Curtis Duncan (44). Drew Hill (42) and Haywood Jeffires (41). Since the 1970 merger, no team has had four receivers ranked in the top six of a conference at the end of the season.
