Match the Mismatches
Edited by Jerry Kirshenbaum
January 18, 1993
The New York Rangers last week fired coach Roger Neilson (above, right), prompting speculation that Ranger star Mark Messier (above, left) was responsible. So what else is new? Below are some other stars who have been suspected of running the asylum and the coaches or managers they've been blamed, fairly or not, for getting fired. See if you can match them up. The answers are on page 15. (How times have changed: In 1925 a member of the New York Yankees tried and failed to get manager Miller Huggins sacked, but then, the conspirator in question was only Babe Ruth.)
