Carter, 50, a management consultant, won the single sculls competition in the 50-54 age bracket at the world masters rowing championships. At this year's nationals he won the single and double sculls events in the same age group. He also completed the Iditarod in 1980.
Carrie, a junior at Dawson-Boyd High, won her fourth straight state cross-country title, completing the 3,200-meter course in 11:42.1, more than 15 seconds ahead of her nearest rival. She has won 67 consecutive high school track and cross-country races in Minnesota.
Umphrey, 23, finished third in the all-around competition at the World Gymnastics Challenge. He also was second in floor exercise and pommel horse and third in vault and parallel bars. He won the parallel bars and was second in the all-around at the '93 nationals.
Rusty, a senior at Chittenango High, rushed for a state single-season record of 2,226 yards, including 119 in a 23-13 loss to Yorktown High in the state Class B championship. The Bears finished 11-1, after having gone 1-23 over the last three years.
Jenn, a senior forward on the Delsea Regional High girls' soccer team, had a goal and an assist in a 2-1 victory over Ramsey High in the Group 3 state-championship game. With 163 career goals Jenn is South Jersey's alltime leading goal scorer.
Sister Lynn Winsor
Winsor, 50, the athletic director, vice-principal and golf coach at Xavier College Prep, guided her team to its 14th straight Class 5A state girls' title, a national record for consecutive state golf crowns. Since 1979 her teams have gone 177-1.
