Aron Rono KAPSABET, KENYA > Track and Field Rono, a junior at Azusa Pacific, won the 1,500 meters (3:46.35), the 5,000 (14:23.81) and the 10,000 (29:56.17) at the NAIA championships, helping the Cougars win the team title. He is the first athlete in either the NAIA or NCAA to win the triple crown of distance races at the same championship meet.

Emmarie Truman
JACKSON, MICH. > Softball
Emmarie, a sophomore righthander at Jackson High, pitched a one-hitter with five strikeouts to lead the Vikings to an 11--0 win. She made the start three months after surgery to remove a cancerous brain tumor and while undergoing chemotherapy. She was 5--5 this season with a 3.19 ERA.

Luke Laird
GARDNER, KANS. > Track and Field
Laird, a freshman at Arkansas, won the Southeastern Conference javelin championship in his first competition as a Razorback. A redshirt until just before the league meet, he threw 228'4", the third-best distance in school history. He placed fifth at the NCAA Mideast Regional.
