McGowan and Gabis, field hockey forward and goalie, respectively, for Worcester (Mass.) Polytechnic Institute, set two New England Division II and III records while leading the Lady Engineers to a 17-2-1 season. McGowan, a grad student in manufacturing, established the mark for points in a career (157). Gabis, a senior, set the career shutout record (49). Worcester Poly won the New England Women's Eight crown by beating Smith College 8-1.

Pat, a senior at DeSales High, passed for 360 yards and six TDs in a 46-20 win over Pomeroy High. He set state season (3,682 yards) and career (7,294) passing marks, breaking those set by the Redskins' Mark Rypien.
Rogers, 41, coached the Lady Hounds of Jones County High to their second consecutive Class AA state softball championship. They beat Loganville High 7-3 and have won 57 consecutive games.
JOHNSON CITY, TENN.
Jenna, now 9, set Southeastern swimming records for girls eight and under in the 50-yard short-course and 50-meter long-course breaststroke. Her times of 39.09 and 43.16 broke 10-and five-year-old records, respectively.
David, a senior soccer goalie for Winton Woods High, had 11 shutouts in 18 games this season to lead the Warriors to a 15-0-3 record and the league title. He allowed an average of 0.43 goals this year.
