Lenore Marvin SURREY, B.C. Marvin, 71, won three golds in the women's 70-74 age division at the World Veterans Track and Field meet, finishing first in the 10K (52:43.86) and the 5K (24:24.32) on the track and first in the 10K cross-country race (55.10).

Evan, 8, who was competing in only his second racquetball tournament, defeated Michael Williams of Houston 11-8, 11-9 to win the eight-and-under division at the state championships.

Tavian, a junior running back at Bettendorf High, set a school single-game record by rushing for 310 yards on 21 carries in just three quarters, in a 42-7 win over West Davenport High. He scored on runs of 81, 54 and 30 yards.

Sorenson, 42, an outfielder for the Nekoosa Angels of the Central Wisconsin Men's Senior Baseball League, went 5 for 5 with four homers and 14 RBIs in a doubleheader sweep of the Tri-City Brewers.

MIAMI
Crissi-Lyn, 9, defeated Maggen Erdmann of Lacrosse, Wis., to win the girls' nine-and-under age division at the world birling (log-rolling) championships. She never fell from a log during her five matches.

Brian Short
TACOMA, WASH.
Brian, 14, won the fighting, weapons and open-hand forms in the junior black-belt division at the World Pro-Am Karate Championships, in Tacoma. He is unbeaten in his last 20 competitions, dating back to 1989.
