Llorca, a senior at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, won the 158-pound title at the NCAA Division III wrestling championships and extended his winning streak to 80 matches, dating back to 1989.

Brea and Patty, both senior righthanded pitchers on the Mingus Union High softball team, through last week had given up two earned runs between them in leading the Lady Marauders to a 19-0 record this year. In the last two seasons, during which they have pitched a total of 331 innings and have recorded 506 strikeouts, they have had a combined ERA of 0.03. Over that span, Brea has not lost a game, and Patty has lost only one.

CAMBRIDGE, MINN.
Kim, 16, won the young adult female freestyle division (ages 15-17) at the indoor archery nationals. Her 587 points (out of a possible 600) surpassed the record of 585, set in 1987 by Denise Keding of Maple Grove, Minn.

Stanislav Garber
BROOKLYN
Stanislav, a sophomore at Fort Hamilton High, won the New York City high school chess championship. He is the highest-rated player in the U.S. in the under-15 division and is eighth in the under-21 category.
