Cross-Country
Chris, a senior at Stevens Point Area Senior High, won the Foot Locker national championships in San Diego in 14:41, finishing 20 seconds ahead of Wesley Smith from Hudson, Ohio. Chris is a three-time state Division I champion.

Emily Fleeman, MORRILTON, ARK.
Volleyball
Emily, a Morrilton High senior, was named MAT of the state AAAA tournament after leading the Devil Dogs to a state title. Emily, also the school's homecoming queen, had a season-high 16 kills in the semifinals and closed the tide game with a service ace.

William Trauth, LEONIA, N.J.
Wrestling, Football, Baseball
Trauth, 59, who has led The Buckley School's wresting squad to 23 league championships and a 131-match winning streak, is retiring from coaching after this year. Trauth has also led Buckley teams to 26 league championships in football and 10 in baseball.

Caroline Ferrell, BLYTHEWOOD, S.C.
Tennis
Caroline, a Ridge View High junior, won her third straight state AAAA singles tide with a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Sarah Shelley of Myrtle Beach. She has played in the school's No. 1 singles position since seventh grade and has a 71-2 record since freshman year.

Drew Carden, LEAGUE CITY, TEXAS
Golf
Drew, a freshman at Clear Creek High, hit a hole in one on his first ever hole of competitive golf. Playing in a junior varsity tournament with a shotgun start, he aced the 166-yard 5th hole at the Clear Creek Golf Course with a five-iron.

Gene Miller, CHARLOTTE, MICH.
Harness Racing
Miller, 58, a retired GM assembly-line worker, won the Billings Amateur Driving Championship, a race for top drivers in the East and Midwest, at the Meadowlands Racetrack. Miller drove his trotter Bingham to victory in 2:20.2 in the 1 3/16-mile race.

Adriane Blewitt, BOARDMAN, OHIO
Track and Field
Blewitt, an Ashland senior, threw a shot put 57'8½" at a December meet, giving her the longest throw in all NCAA divisions for 2002. An eight-time All-America, she has won Division II indoor and outdoor championships in the event.
