FRIDAY 9/5
Basketball Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony
Among the seven being enshrined in Springfield are two big men—Patrick Ewing
and Hakeem Olajuwon—and one big mouth: commentator (and former Rutgers and
Detroit coach)
Dick Vitale
(right). No word on whether his display will include
an audio component. Let's hope not, baby!
ESPN Classic 7:30 p.m.
SATURDAY 9/6
U.S. Open Women's Final
The No. 1 spot is up for grabs thanks to France's Julie Coin. The world's
188th-ranked player shocked top seed Ana Ivanovic last week, knocking the Serb
from her perch atop the WTA rankings. Expect a push from No. 6
Elena Dementieva
(left) of Russia, who is looking for her first career Grand Slam win. The
Olympic gold medalist hasn't lost a set in her first four matches.
CBS 7 p.m.
Miami at No. 5
Florida
These Sunshine State rivals, who haven't met since the Hurricanes joined the
ACC in 2004, revive their feud. At stake in the Battle for the Seminole War
Canoe is an authentic Native American boat. The Hurricanes hold a 28--25 edge
over the Gators and have won the last six matchups.

SUNDAY 9/7
Angels at White Sox
With a 17-game lead over their closest divisional rival, the Angels aren't
playing for much. And it shows—Anaheim has lost 10 of its last 18. That's good
news for the White Sox, who are in a dogfight with the Twins in the AL Central.
Chicago's Ken Griffey, batting .250 since joining the team last month, is
hoping his new team can take him to the postseason, for just the third time in
his 19-year career.

SI PICK OF THE
WEEK
MONDAY 9/8
Vikings at Packers
Some friendly advice to Green Bay quarterback Aaron Rodgers (right), who will
be making his first career start: Maybe invest in a little extra padding. The
Vikings' defense was bruising last year, and the acquisition of defensive end
Jared Allen (left)—who as a Chief led the NFL with 15.5 sacks in 2007—makes the
squad even more intimidating. Said Allen, "Hopefully, I can put my helmet
square in the back of [ Rodgers's] spine. If I can do that and knock the ball
loose, it'll be a good day." Yeah, let's make that a lot of extra
padding.

TUESDAY 9/9

Sundance and Tribeca), this acclaimed documentary tells the stories of six
players at the 2006 Homeless World Cup in Cape Town, South Africa.
