Before a national TV audience, Billie Jean King beat Bobby Riggs in the Battle of the Sexes tennis match. SI writer Curry Kirkpatrick described the spectacle.
THE DAY of the match dawned with all sorts of wonderful rumors: Larry King and Billie Jean were getting a divorce. An Arabian sheik with a harem of 60 was flying in from Kuwait.
