Dr. Z's Pick of the Week

They are
afterthoughts, second options, bailouts. Vikings QB Gus Frerotte is 37, a
veteran of 15 NFL seasons and eight clubs. The Titans' Kerry Collins is 35, and
his résumé includes five teams and 14 seasons. But when things started
crumbling around them this year, they were rushed into action. Collins took
over after Vince Young suffered a sprained knee and an emotional meltdown in
the opener, and he's led Tennessee to a pair of workmanlike wins. Frerotte
(above) beat Carolina last week, after coach Brad Childress decided Tarvaris
Jackson wasn't ready to lead the Vikings after all.

These teams
believe in old-fashioned values: sturdy defense, sound running game. Each has a
dazzling back—Adrian Peterson in Minnesota, breathtakingly quick rookie Chris
Johnson in Tennessee. Combined rushing yards will outnumber passing yards when
they meet this Sunday. I like the home-team Titans in a low scorer.
