Zach Wentz BISMARCK, N.D. > Baseball Wentz, a freshman first baseman and pitcher at North Dakota State, hit .507 and had a slugging percentage of .903, with 15 doubles, 12 homers, 67 RBIs and 66 runs scored, for his American Legion team, the Bismarck Governors. At Century High he was all-state three times and threw two perfect games.

SOUTHAMPTON, N.J. > Football
Baldwin, a senior safety at Johns Hopkins, scored three defensive touchdowns in the Blue Jays' 34--3 victory over St. Lawrence, returning two interceptions 28 and 45 yards and a fumble 32 yards; two of the scores came on consecutive plays from scrimmage. He also had 10 tackles and forced a fumble.

Lauren, a Lely High senior, is ranked No. 2 in the U.S. after winning USTA's 18-and-under National Open and National Clay Court championships and the $10,000 Via Christi Pro Tennis Classic. (As an amateur she received only expenses.) She has won nine national titles.

COATESVILLE, PA. > Soccer
Anderson, a freshman forward at Lincoln, scored a school-record five goals in her college debut and six days later scored a hat trick, giving her a Lincoln season-record eight goals after just three games. She was named Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference Division II offensive player of the week.

HOUSTON > Sailing
Crain, a freshman at MIT, won the U.S. Sailing youth championship in the Laser Radial division; he won the eight-race series by the wide margin of six points. He previously had four straight top three finishes in the Laser Radial state championships and led St. John's High to two 420-class national high school titles.

Christine Tan
SAFETY HARBOR, FLA. > Volleyball
Tan, a junior libero at Minnesota, averaged 6.50 digs and 0.67 assists and received 61 of 62 serves in leading the Golden Gophers to a title in their home invitational; she was Big Ten defensive player of the week for the fourth time in her career. She leads the league with 5.35 digs per game.
