•Only one. William Hartack, in his first two attempts, had winning mounts. He rode Calumet Farm's Barbizon in 1956 and Claiborne Farm's Nadir the following year. Two brothers, Angel and Ismael Valenzuela, have won the stake, however. Angel won with Prince John in 1955, and Ismael with Warfare in 1959.
