1 UConn's title hopes have suffered a major blow. The Huskies became the No. 1 team because of their defense and toughness, but they'll be less potent without their best perimeter defender, junior guard Jerome Dyson , who is out indefinitely after tearing his right lateral meniscus.

2 The Mountain West Conference is headed for a bid bonanza. The league has never gotten more than three teams into the NCAA tournament, but four of its teams ( Utah, BYU, San Diego State and UNLV) are ranked in the top 55 of the RPI.

3 Arizona State must keep spreading the ball around. The Sun Devils tend to rely on James Harden (above), but they only needed him to take eight shots to beat UCLA.
