We're not talking grainy, amateur webcam footage. (A promise: no dancing hamsters.) The Chaos Film team of Robb Riley and Julie Deichman was on location for each of the shoots. Acclaimed video director Dan Katz, who has packaged commercials for BMW, Coke and Gap among others, was then enlisted to guarantee the videos popped like never before.
Here's a sampling of the video package that's available at SI.com and YouTube.
Behind-the-scenes footage from each of seven location shoots, including Irina Shayk's run-in with the carabinieri in Naples. (Imagine Irina splashing around in a fountain at a busy intersection without a permit and you get the idea....)
Model-produced Web diaries from some of this year's fresh faces. Esti Ginzburg, for example, takes you from her New York City apartment to her first SI shoot, in Naples. In Turkey newbies Lucia Dvorska and Damaris Lewis go on a hot-air balloon adventure.
A close-up, detailed presentation on the art of bodypainting.
Front to back, if it's in the Swimsuit Issue, you'll find it and even more online.
SWIMMING IN outtakes, SI.com offers a variety of digital applications to maximize their availability to viewers. Prime among them is the downloadable Swimsuit calendar at si.com/swimcalendar. It enables you to customize each month of the year with the model of your choosing.
Are you tired of staring at the same image of Tori Praver (left) the entire month? Switch in another shot of her. (Select up to four images per model.) And on your special day, that month's model will sing Happy Birthday to You. Well, maybe not. Next year, perhaps.
