Tiger in the Woods
After his drive on the 4th hole went astray on Sunday, Tiger Woods had to hit through the moss-draped trees at Bay Hill in Orlando. He settled for a bogey, but by the end of the day he had rallied from five strokes down, matching his largest comeback on the PGA Tour, to overtake Sean O'Hair. A dramatic 16-foot putt on the 18th green earned him his 66th Tour win; a handshake from the tournament host, Arnold Palmer (inset); and favorite's status at the Masters beginning on April 9 (page 40).
UConn's Lorin Dixon went in for a layup against Cal on Sunday during their Sweet 16 game in the Trenton Regional of the NCAA women's tournament. The top-seeded, undefeated Huskies whipped the Bears 77--53, thanks in part to 28 points from freshman Tiffany Hayes (inset). SI went to press on Monday before the women's Final Four was determined.
Lance Armstrong lay on an X-ray table at a hospital in Valladolid, Spain, to have his right collarbone examined after he broke it in a crash during the Vuelta of Castilla and Leon on March 23. Two days later surgeons in Austin fastened the bone together with a steel plate and 12 screws (inset). Armstrong said he still plans to enter the Tour de France in July.
