HUNT FOR RED OCTOPIThe Red Wings' 800-pound octopus mascot wasn't the only cephalopod to hit the Joe Louis Arena ice during Game 2 of the Stanley Cup finals. Per fan custom since 1952, at least one real mollusk was thrown onto the rink during the game, which Detroit won 3-0.

WIZARDRY OF OZ
A furious, last-second rush by the desperate Penguins and Marian Hossa (18) didn't allow goalie Chris Osgood to rest in crease in Game 6. Osgood, who allowed just 30 goals in 18 playoff starts, stopped this chance with no time left in Detroit's Cup-clinching 3-2 win.

Nicklas Lidstrom was the first Red Wing to hoist the hardware after Detroit edged Pittsburgh in Game 6 to win the franchise's 11th Stanley Cup. Lidstrom, who won his fourth title in five finals, became the only European-born captain of a Stanley Cup champion.
