The long-awaited title completed a decorated college career for senior Tyler Hansbrough, who finished as the fourth-leading scorer in NCAA tournament history, with 325 points.

ONE HEEL OF A NIGHT
More than 30,000 Tar Heels fans jammed the intersection of Franklin and Columbia streets in Chapel Hill, setting off—and jumping—bonfires as part of the victory celebration. Despite the disturbance, just two revelers were arrested by city police, and the streets were reopened by 2 a.m.

BLUE MAN GROUPIES
After winning the program's fifth national championship, the newly crowned Heels didn't leave their fans hangin' and, led by junior Deon Thompson, thanked the Carolina Blue backers in the Ford Field stands. The following day the team was back in Chapel Hill for a pep rally at the Dean E. Smith Center.
