I think the media's ire over Matthew Stafford's record contract—even London's The Independent wrote that the deal made it appear that "the NFL ... has been back on the funny cigarettes"—will go away as soon as Stafford (right) plays well. It's just that every decision the Lions' organization makes these days will be greeted with inordinate skepticism.

I think that Julius Peppers won't be traded anywhere. Not only would a team have to pony up a 2010 first-round pick (at least) in return for the Panthers All-Pro defensive end who wants out, but Peppers would also command an annual salary in the $12 million--to--$16 million range. He's not worth both of those things.

I think defensive end Jason Taylor will be a Patriot, unless Miami offers him some real money. And speaking of the Dolphins, they might be working Pat White at quarterback for now, but it's only a matter of time before he becomes a "slash" type of player, a guy who receives, runs and throws. He's going to be a versatile weapon and a great asset.
