The original ladies' man had a larger-than-life persona, though his hoops skills were declining when he arrived at the age of 32. However, the Dipper—here with Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (33), Pat Riley (12) and Jerry West (44)—still averaged a team-record 19.2 rebounds a game.

West averaged 31.0 and 31.3 points in 1964-65 and '65-66, respectively, and tallied 25,192 points (the most in Lakers history) and 6,238 assists (second). He made a pretty good G.M., too, helping bring Kobe and Shaq to the Lakers.

ELGIN BAYLOR

Before he was the caretaker for L.A.'s ugly sister team, Baylor was an above-the-rim star in a horizontal era. He mastered the ability of hanging in the air to better shoot over taller players like Bill Russell (6). Baylor once scored 71 against the Knicks.

10.6 ppg, 7.7 rpg, 1.1 apg, 50.3 FG%, 74.7 FT%

In nine seasons with the Lakers the NBA's Iron Man missed just three regular season games. Green had a knack for securing tough rebounds and quickly dishing the ball out to Magic for a fast break. Although the A.C. officially doesn't stand for anything, it could be an unofficial abbreviation for Always Consistent.
