Dodgers at Giants
After three months apart, baseball's oldest rivals go at it again on Aug. 10 (MLB.TV). Naturally, the season series is tight, with L.A. up 5--4. (All time, S.F. has a 1,157--1,134 edge.) At week's end the Dodgers led the NL West and the Giants co-led the wild-card race. If they hold on, they could meet in the postseason for the first time.

Born to Run
Writer and jogger Christopher McDougall thought running injuries were unavoidable. Then he discovered Mexico's Tarahumara tribe, whose reclusive members effortlessly run ultramarathon distances barefoot. McDougall's sketch of the tribe and account of one of its races is a page-turner.

U.S. Women's Amateur
Noreen Mohler has visors older than some of her opponents in St. Louis this week. Mohler, 55, qualified for the Amateur for the first time since 1980. (Only seven of the other entrants were alive then.) Can she party like it's 1975, when she made the semis? The Golf Channel has live coverage Wednesday through Sunday.
