After getting his professional start as the team photographer of the Philadelphia Phillies in 1986, Tielemans (page 48) began contributing to SI in 1989. He has shot hundreds of news stories, features and profiles and covered 10 Olympics, 16 World Series and 19 Super Bowls, including Super Bowl XLIII last February at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa. Tielemans (top, far right) positioned himself perfectly to capture Santonio Holmes's dramatic fourth-quarter touchdown catch, which gave the Steelers a 27-23 win over the Cardinals and made the cover of SI (right).
A winner of such prestigious awards as newspaper photographer of the year (1983) and magazine sports feature of the year (1996), the Florida-based Frakes (page 32) has shot for SI since 1983. He has covered 25 Kentucky Derbys and many other sports classics, and he has photographed in more than 125 countries, from Cuba to China.
A native New Yorker who began taking pictures at 13, Iacono (page 54) began working for the LIFE photo lab after high school and was soon shooting for SI and other magazines. He became an SI staffer in 1970. Among other assignments he has shot hundreds of title fights, including ones involving Muhammad Ali, Sugar Ray Leonard and Mike Tyson.
