SKYDIVING
One hundred eighty-one female skydivers from 31 countries joined hands about 17,000 feet above the ground to set a new women's formation world record near Perris, Calif., on Sept. 26. The feat was part of a weeklong event, Jump for the Cause, that raised more than $900,000 for breast-cancer research at City of Hope, a comprehensive cancer center near Los Angeles.
"I JUMP WITH A SPECIALLY DESIGNED CAMERA HELMET THAT HOLDS TWO CAMERAS AND A CAMCORDER. I WAIT ABOVE THE SKYDIVERS UNTIL ALMOST ALL OF THEM ARE IN FORMATION. THEN I QUICKLY SINK BELOW THEM AND HOPE THEY HOLD THE FORMATION FOR SEVERAL SECONDS."
