SYNCHRONIZED SWIMMING

Jenna Randall, a member of the British synchronized swimming team, posed upside down on July 17, the first day of the world swimming championships in Rome. Randall, a 21-year-old from Ascot, England, was training for an individual event. (She would finish eighth in the technical solo and ninth in the free solo.) She and her partner, Olivia Allison, 19, placed 10th in the world duet free finals on July 24. They had finished 14th in the duet at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing.

"THE GIRLS ON THE BRITISH SYNCHRO TEAM WERE GREAT, VERY PATIENT, AS I SWAM AROUND IN FULL SCUBA GEAR TRYING TO GET THE RIGHT ANGLE. FOR THIS SHOT I USED A FISH-EYE LENS. LUCKILY IT WAS A PERFECT SUNNY DAY."
