It was the best Valentine's Day gift a Canadian athlete could have delivered. Shortly after 6 p.m. Vancouver time on Feb. 14, a 22-year-old Montrealer named Alexandre Bilodeau (4) bounded and flipped his way down a 250-meter moguls course to give his country its first gold medal on home soil. The previous night on soggy Cypress Mountain, Hannah Kearney (above) of the U.S. made up for a disappointing Turin Games by outskiing reigning No. 1 Jenn Heil of Canada for the gold. Her U.S. teammate Shannon Bahrke (near left) took bronze, her second medal after a silver in 2002.
