Though he never achieved his goal of bringing a Cup to Chicago, Reay, the franchise's alltime leader in games coached and victories, guided his teams to six first-place finishes and reached the Stanley Cup finals three times, losing to Montreal in seven games in 1965 and '71 and then in six games to those same Habs in '73.
HIGHLIGHTS: 821 games, 77 goals, 400 assists, 1,205 penalty minutes
The captain from 1961 through '68 scored 59 points (14 goals and 45 assists) in 1964-65, then a record for a defenseman in the Original Six era. Pilote also won three straight Norris Trophies, from '63 through '65.
