WHAT A RIVAL COACH SAYS
"THE PANTHERS have one thing that most teams are looking for: the ability to run the ball. Take your pick of Jonathan Stewart or DeAngelo Williams. Either can hurt you. I think the Panthers will continue to split the carries between the two. Why change something that works so well?
A young quarterback can come in and play with those running backs. All he has to do is manage the game and not screw it up. That's the kind of quarterback the Carolina coaches think they have in Matt Moore. He'll be the starter. I don't think he's in danger of losing the job to rookie Jimmy Clausen unless the Panthers get off to a bad start and Moore starts throwing interceptions. You have to take into account that coach John Fox is on the hot seat, so he has to play the quarterback who can win now, and that's Moore. It'll be tough for Clausen to play right away. He doesn't have all of the tools. If he did, some team would have taken him in the first round.
If you pick a receiver from the Panthers for your fantasy team, Steve Smith is the only guy you want. He's still as good as anyone in the league. He just doesn't have the quarterback who can get him the ball consistently.... I think Dwayne Jarrett will be the No. 2 receiver now that Muhsin Muhammad is gone. But he's in his fourth season, and it's time to put up or shut up.... Rookie Armanti Edwards could surprise, but he is unproven at the position. He was a quarterback in college.
Tight end Dante Rosario is more of a receiving tight end. He might end up with the second-most receptions on this offense."
ONE TO GET, ONE TO FORGET
Though Carolina picked Jimmy Clausen, people should not sleep on Moore, who threw seven TDs and zero picks in the last three games of 2009.
