WHAT A RIVAL COACH SAYS
"THERE'S NOT a whole lot to like here. This was one of the worst offenses in the league last year, and getting this unit to a respectable level will take some time.
The good news for the Bucs is that they have their quarterback for the next 10 years. Josh Freeman has a chance to be really good. He can throw it. He makes good decisions. He has all the tools. If he doesn't break out this season he will next year.
Freeman's problem is that the Buccaneers don't have any quality receivers. No one on this roster is going to scare a defense. For that reason, I think both rookies, Arrelious Benn and Mike Williams, will be able to play right away. They could even start. The other guys who are there, Sammie Stroughter and Maurice Stovall, are just warm bodies. With this group, I don't know how the Buccaneers let Antonio Bryant get away.
They do have one of the better tight ends in the league in Kellen Winslow. He and Freeman had a good rapport last season. The Bucs were obviously trying to get the ball to Winslow, and they will probably do the same thing this year. He's still good; he could have 1,000 receiving yards.
Ideally for the Bucs, they would run the ball with Cadillac Williams, but he hasn't always been healthy. At the beginning of last season he wasn't looking too good, but as the year went on, our coaches noticed that he was closer to being his former self. If he's on his way to regaining his old form, he'll have a good season.... Derrick Ward doesn't strike fear in us. Cadillac is the only one we worry about."
