Refuted

By Lance Armstrong, an accusation by three-time Tour de France champion Greg LeMond (page 66) that Armstrong tried to implicate LeMond in a drug scandal. LeMond, 49, told a German newspaper that Armstrong, with whom he has had a contentious relationship, offered an unidentified person in the cycling world $300,000 to say that LeMond took banned drugs. "That's absolutely nonsense—$300,000?" Armstrong said Sunday. "Come on." Armstrong, a seven-time Tour de France champion, was in 31st place in this year's race after Monday's 15th stage.
