He was temporarily TKO'd into retirement in '07—first by no-namer Mike Mollo and then by Andrew Golota. Since kicking an admitted alcohol problem, he has done mostly manual labor while living in Boston. Says McBride, now 37 with a wife and two children, "Laying cement is hard work, but it builds character and keeps you strong." So strong, in fact, that he staged a comeback last month, a unanimous decision loss to Zack Page in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. "Now I've got the hunger back for the sport I love most," says McBride.
