Zavala, in her 35th season as girls' head coach at Grand Island Central Catholic School became Nebraska's winningest high school coach in any sport, with 794 victories, when her Crusaders beat Mercy 25--3, 25--9. Through Sunday her record was 803--146. Zavala has coached eight state championship teams.

Andre Bevil

Bevil, a junior quarterback at Lamar, threw for a total of 645 yards and seven TDs over two games as the Cardinals beat Webber International 21--14 and Southeastern Louisiana 29--28. The wins were the first in 21 years for the school, which last fielded a football team in 1989. Bevil set a school mark with 429 yards passing in the opener, a 30--27 loss to McNeese State.
Allie Woodward

Allie, a senior at Notre Dame Academy, won her fourth straight individual title of the year, the 5K girls' high school race at the Roy Griak Invitational (18:22.3). She also won the Marshfield Columbus (14:28.9) and Chilton (14:30.1) invitationals and the Green Bay City Meet (14:49.4), all 4K runs. Allie was the 2010 state Division 2 outdoor 1,600- and 3,200-meter champion.
