DENVER > Roller Derby

Hensley, a 31-year-old police officer who skates as a jammer under the name Frida Beater for the Rocky Mountain Rollergirls, scored the winning points on a power jam with 16 seconds left to help defeat defending champion Oly Rollers in the Women's Flat Track Derby Association national championship by one point, 147--146.

Darren Hartwell

Hartwell, a sophomore wide receiver at Williams College, had seven catches for 116 yards and one touchdown to help the Ephs to a 31--16 win in their 125th meeting with Amherst. The victory clinched the NESCAC title and gave Williams an 8--0 season. Hartwell led the conference in receiving yards (695) and set a school record for touchdowns in a season (10).

Victoria and Brittany Nutting

Co-captains Victoria and Brittany, seniors at Hancock High, led the Hawks to the Class III state title, avenging last year's runner-up finish to Tupelo High. Victoria led the team in kills, and Brittany led in service points and assists. Both were named all-state.
