Waiting Game

League executives believe that one reason the Nuggets haven't accepted the Nets' offer for Carmelo Anthony is the fear that Anthony will make New Jersey better. Sources say that the Nets' first-round pick in 2011 is part of the proposed package for Anthony, a choice that would likely decrease in value the more time Melo spends with the Nets. By holding on to him until the Feb. 24 trade deadline, Denver gets more value out of the pick.... Blake Griffin is off to a hot start (he is averaging 20.6 points per game), which is all the more impressive considering that the Clippers' rookie power forward has few moves in his repertoire. Griffin says the pick-and-pop will eventually be his best weapon, a play he says that he works on "nonstop" in practice.
