Old Pro's Tale
Conventional wisdom holds that as golfers age, their putting skills diminish. Here are the 2010 putting averages of PGA Tour players of different ages. As you can see, this bit of common knowledge is clearly anecdotal. Sure, there is a slight drop-off in the pros' short putting, but otherwise over-40 players more than hold their own—especially on longer putts, on which they are just as successful as the young guys.
