
EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP, N.J. > Bowling Tim, a junior at Egg Harbor Township High, won the state individual bowling championship using his signature backup two-handed style, throwing a strike on his last frame to edge Hopatcong High's Ray Stirrat 237--235. Tim averaged 243 over seven games in the state tournament. For his career he has bowled eight perfect games in casual and sanctioned play. Kendra Stern ALBUQUERQUE > Swimming Stern, a senior at Amherst College, won the 100-, 200- and 500-yard freestyle events at the NESCAC championships for the fourth straight year and was named swimmer of the meet for the third year. Stern holds Div. III national records in the 100- (48.98) and 200-yard freestyle (1:45.31), has won seven individual NCAA titles and will compete for three more later this month. Malcolm and Martin Smith CLARKSVILLE, TENN. > Basketball Malcolm and Martin, twin forwards at Clarksville Academy, were named Mr. Basketball finalists, the state's first brothers to do so in the same season. The Cougars went 5--23 the season before the Smiths arrived. With them, the team is 115--18, including a state title last year, and 31--1 through Sunday.
