Waverly Neer

RUSSIAVILLE, IND. > Indoor Track and Field

Waverly, a senior at Culver Academies, won the 5K at the New Balance nationals to set a U.S. high school indoor record (16:35.15). In cross-country last fall she won the state title and earned All-America honors with a 14th-place finish at the Foot Locker nationals. In June, Waverly won her age group in the 2,000-meter steeplechase at the USA Track & Field youth championships.

Austin Rivers

WINTER PARK, FLA. > Basketball

Austin, a 6'4" guard at Winter Park High, was named McDonald's All American male player of the year, joining his father, Boston Celtics coach Glenn (Doc) Rivers, to become the award's second father-son winners. Austin, a Duke signee and Naismith player of the year, averaged 29.2 points and 6.1 rebounds in leading the Wildcats to a second straight Class 6A state title.

Elizabeth Williams


Elizabeth, a 6'3" center at Princess Anne High, was named McDonald's All American female player of the year. A Duke signee, she averaged 18.9 points, 11.1 rebounds and 4.5 blocks to lead the Cavaliers (31--1) to their fourth Group AAA state title. In the championship game, Elizabeth had 19 points, 19 rebounds and a tournament-record nine blocks.
