By Chiefs tight end Leonard Pope, a six-year-old boy who was drowning last week in a backyard pool in Pope's hometown of Americus, Ga. According to witnesses at an evening birthday party that he was attending, Pope—the only person there who knew how to swim—responded to partygoers' cries for help when the child, Bryson Moore, who had been playing nearby, slipped and fell into the deep end of the pool. Fully dressed and with a cellphone and wallet in his pockets, Pope leaped in and rescued the boy, who was said to have been in shock for the next half hour. "I wasn't waiting on anyone else," said the five-year NFL veteran, who would have otherwise been in training camp during a non-lockout year. "I have my own kids... . I would want someone to do that for my kids, also."
