The golf industry employs close to 400,000 workers and pays about $13.4 billion in wages. The industry is 30% the size of that in the U.S. in terms of revenue. In Europe nearly half the courses (3,000) are in Great Britain and Ireland.
GREAT BRITAIN & IRELAND
They account for almost 60% of wages from Europe's 6,500 courses.
According to a recent University of Arizona study, 80% to 90% of all U.S. golf manufacturing companies outsource production to the Pearl River Delta Region and its eight industrial towns, 20 million residents and five million migrant workers. Fifty to 60 workers must take 200 steps to manufacture one driver, at a cost of $40 to $60. That driver can retail for $500 or more in the U.S.

This manufacturing center in Guangdong Province has a population of 20 million.
