SI: What was the best part of winning the national championship last season?
GC: Seeing the faces of the players in the locker room after the game. There is nothing better as a coach than getting to experience that look on the faces of the players.
SI: And what's your favorite memory from the 2010 season?
GC: The comeback against Alabama [in Tuscaloosa]. We were down 24--0, and that game is just burned into my mind. It probably always will be. We showed great resiliency in a very, very tough environment. It was just the ultimate team win.
SI: WHAT WILL IT TAKE TO HAVE A SUCCESSFUL SEASON?
GC: WE MUST FIND LEADERSHIP AND DEVELOP CHEMISTRY. WE WON'T CHANGE OUR APPROACH. WE'VE GOT TO BE A PHYSICAL TEAM TO BE GREAT.
SI: Any fears of complacency?
GC: That happens when you have guys returning who feel entitled to win again. We're the opposite of that, with so many guys fighting and scratching just to get on the field.
SI: What worries you when you're away from your players and thinking about them?
GC: I just want to make sure our young men are doing the right things. And this has nothing to do with football. As coaches, we want to guide young men into being better people. The football part will take care of itself.
