SI: You landed many of Mississippi's top high school prospects this year. Did you focus on recruiting at home?
HN: We thought this was going to be an excellent year in Mississippi for players. And we had a lot of time this year [because the Rebels missed a bowl game for the first time in three seasons], so we took that time to recruit, recruit, recruit.
SI: What was the big difference between the nine-win seasons in '08 and '09 and the four-win season last year?
HN: In those first two years we had guys on the team like [Mike] Wallace, [Jevan] Snead, [Michael] Oher—man, they were so hungry to win. They took ownership. We just didn't have as much of that last season.
SI: HOW DO YOU PICK A STARTER FROM AMONG THREE UNTESTED QUARTERBACKS?
HN: THIS FALL WE'LL REALLY PUT A CRASH COURSE ON THEM AND SEE WHO COMES OUT OF IT.
SI: What's it like playing in a division with so many strong teams?
HN: You grow numb to it. You can worry yourself sick about it, but at some point you have got to just go out and compete.
SI: Where does Ole Miss football stand after your first three years as coach?
HN: The way that we took off out of the chute the first two years, that was awesome. Last year, 4 and 8, that was hard to take. But we'll be fine. We're building this thing right.
