ON HIS RUN DEFENSE AND MEMORIES OF MIDDLE SCHOOL

SI: You can't win in the Big 12 unless you stop the run. How concerned are you about your lack of production in this area?

PR: We have not stopped the run yet in two seasons. I'm somewhat optimistic because if there was one position group that was the most improved on our team this spring, it was our defensive front four.

SI: How good is your secondary?

PR: Leonard Johnson and Ter'Ran Benton are both NFL players in my estimation. Cornerback will be our best position on the defensive side of the ball.

SI: HOW ROUGH IS THE SCHEDULE THIS SEASON?

PR: IF WE DON'T HAVE THE TOUGHEST SCHEDULE IN THE [LEAGUE], WE HAVE ONE OF THE TOP TWO OR THREE.

SI: You've said you won't rotate quarterbacks this year. Why are you against it?

PR: I was part of a quarterback-by-committee system in eighth grade, and that didn't go well.

SI: To what extent will the new high-definition scoreboard behind the north end zone have an impact on the program?

PR: It will have a huge impact not only on the game-day experience and environment and what that does to help you for home field advantage, but also with what it does for recruiting. It's an intimidating video board, and I can't wait to see it when it's third down and the music [is] cranking up.
