INJURIES, AS THE SAYING GOES, ARE PART OF THE GAME. And knowing about injuries is an essential part of fantasy. Be prepared for your draft by knowing which key players are entering the season coming off an ailment or surgery.

QUARTERBACKS

Peyton MANNING COLTS

IN MAY, Manning had surgery on his neck. He also had neck surgery before the 2010 season when ... yeah, he was pretty good. If he can get better offensive-line play, maybe he won't need more surgery next year. It's O.K. to draft him high.

Tony ROMO COWBOYS

ROMO SO far seems healed from the collarbone injury that knocked him out for much of last season, so don't be afraid to pull the trigger on the Cowboy.

Matthew STAFFORD LIONS

STAFFORD HAS shown every skill you want in a franchise quarterback except the ability to stay healthy. If he can play a 16-game season, he has the potential to put up big numbers, given his weapons. He's a big risk as a QB1.
