NOT: MIAMI FAIRWEATHERS

A new stadium next year should help, but Marlins attendance—worst in MLB—has been laughable this season. (A head count at one game tallied a "crowd" of 347.) And it's no better across town: the Dolphins' 2011 ticket sales are at a 28-year low.

HOT: BIG EAST FEAST

All eight teams from the Big East won—and mostly won big—on opening weekend, combining for 304 points scored. South Florida's 23--20 upset at No. 16 Notre Dame was the highlight, but Pitt and WV, both winners, still rule.

NOT: OUT OF WAC

Hawaii got a 34--17 win over lowly Colorado, but six other WAC schools took losses this week (though Utah State nearly pulled off a historic upset of defending champion Auburn), capped by San Jose State's 57--3 thrashing by Stanford.

HOT: CAPTAIN CLUTCH

Raise your hand if you wrote off 37-year-old Derek Jeter and his .256 average two months ago. Since Aug. 1 the Yankees' captain is second in the AL in average (.387) and hits (46). His home run on Sunday gave New York its fourth straight win.

NOT: CONCERNED COLTS

Where to begin? Peyton Manning's neck injury won't heal; depth in the secondary is tissue thin; and Indy's stars are getting older: Manning (below) is 35, center Jeff Saturday is 36, and Reggie Wayne turns 33 in November. Tick, tock.
