2003 ON Sept. 6 and 7, Fenway hosts its first rock concerts: back-to-back sold-out (35,000) Bruce Springsteen shows during which the Boss fittingly performs Take Me Out to the Ballgame and the Standells' 1966 ode to the Hub, Dirty Water.
2004 ON April 16 the Sox unveil outside Gate B an eight-foot bronze statue of Ted Williams. In '10 the statue is moved farther down Van Ness Street and joins another of Williams and those of Dom DiMaggio, Bobby Doerr and Johnny Pesky.
2005 ON April 6, stars Drew Barrymore and Jimmy Fallon headline a gala, with a red carpet running down the first base line, for the movie Fever Pitch, which had been partly filmed at Fenway the season before.
2007 REPUBLICAN Massachusetts governor (and presidential hopeful) Mitt Romney holds a barbecue at Fenway for some 800 donors on June 24. (The Sox are out of town.) On Dec. 2 Illinois Democratic senator Barack Obama puts on his own Fenway fund-raiser.
2008 JUDGE Patti Saris presides over a naturalization ceremony at Fenway on Sept. 17 for more than 3,000 U.S. citizens-to-be, who take the oath from the first base boxes.
