NASCAR'S WESTERN SWING

3.4 PHOENIX INTERNATIONAL RACEWAY

2011 RECAP JEFF GORDON beat Kyle Busch to the checkered flag by more than a second to end a 66-race drought and tie Cale Yarborough for fifth place on the alltime wins list (83).

TRACK FACT After last year's February race, Phoenix was repaved and reconfigured, which helped make November's Cup race the second-fastest in track history.

EYE ON 2012 The track was a wild card in the Chase last year, but give fall race winner Kasey Kahne, who'll have improved equipment, a slight edge going into this spring.

WALTRIP "You want to focus hard on your car's setup so that when you return in the Chase you're in good shape and not blindsided like they were last year after the changes."

3.11 LAS VEGAS MOTOR SPEEDWAY

2011 RECAP A pit-road gaffe cost Tony Stewart, who led nearly two thirds of the race, and CARL EDWARDS capitalized for his third win in his last five Cup starts.

TRACK FACT Over the past three seasons not a single Cup participant has repeated as a top five finisher, and no driver has finished in the top 10 in all three races.

EYE ON 2012 Edwards and Jimmie Johnson have won six of the last seven here, but don't count out Vegas native Kyle Busch, who has three top fives and one win.
