Showtime! Finally, after four days of pulling cable, building sets and camera positions, and countless meetings, we went live with first-round action on Feb. 22. This camera tower (right) and a shorter ShotLink tower (left) overlook the Marana Valley, highlighted by a formation known locally as Pyramid Rock.
SATURDAY, FEB. 18
Above: All 11 production vehicles are connected through a central hub in the NBC/Golf Channel compound so they can operate as one unit.
Workers construct one of 19 camera towers that are strategically positioned on the course to maximize coverage. This one sits next to the 12th green.
Below: Pulling cable, as we call it, involves rolling 105,000 feet of fiber optics off spools mounted on the back of golf carts and laying it out neatly along the course.
SUNDAY, FEB. 19
Below: Each week new cables are stripped and spliced together to create fresh connections.
Right: The towers are covered with green bunting, which acts as camouflage—except for the NBC and Golf Channel logos.
